Lewisville city government’s top priority is public safety. Planning ahead for population growth, we need a new fire station on the north side of town. Our current station #4 is aging and doesn’t meet modern standards like our newer fire stations. While we still have some life left in that station, we need to work now to secure a big enough piece of land to place a larger station that can house more apparatus, equipment, and personnel.
As growth continues on the north side, the availability of land for a new station could be limited unless we acquire it now (pdf).
Lewisville Fire Department is a primary agency responding to drowning calls on Lewisville Lake, and much of this response originates at station 4. Part of this package will provide a facility at Lake Park (pdf) for the equipment they need to access quickly.
The package also includes money to improve Lake Park’s swim beach (pdf) to make it safer and help prevent the tragedies that occur too often.
